How to Commission an Artist

Description

So... this devil's been in the works for quite some time. Finally managed to finish it, and felt the need to after discovering - much to my shock and awe - that a lot of people are either brand-new to this whole "commissioning" thing and just don't know how to go about it very well, or inadvertently create a lot of frustration and wasted time. The subject came up while I was noting with one of my current commission clients, :iconmihoshik: , who deserves a lot of praise in my book for doing a really great job when it came to letting me know exactly what the desired commissions were all about as well as having a good amount of reference prepared. :D

So, I've taken some time to finish up this easy-to-follow 3-step guide on how to make the commission process go as smoothly as possible, and some tips on things to avoid if you don't want to alienate artists you want to commission (which does happen, unfortunately... some people can be jerks to artists, whether they realize it or not). This is not just about commissioning me, but pretty much any artist, and how to make client-artist relations be as hassle-free as possible.

But let's be real here... you only came for the cat pictures :P XD

Seriously though, I hope this helps out :) If you're an artist who accepts commissions and you agree with this, feel free to share it or give it a feature. :D I'll have more actual art uploaded soon. :)
